What Nick Saban Said on Monday of SEC Championship Week

Tuscaloosa, Ala. – Alabama coach Nick Saban takes Crimson Tide to the SEC Championship for the ninth time since arriving in Tuscaloosa.

He’ll be a familiar opponent on the other sideline as Kirby Smart leads the Eastern Conference champions and the nation’s #1 team at the Georgia Bulldogs.

Saban spoke to the media on Monday to recap the Iron Bowl game and preview the SEC Championship game in Alabama with the Bulldogs.

Video and full version will be posted after.

Live updates from Nick Saban’s pre-SEC Championship press conference

  • Saban says Georgia has been the most consistent team in the country this season. Overall, he was courtesy of the Bulldogs in his opening statement.
  • He believes that the offensive line needs to play more physical and aggressive.
  • “We have to train the players we have.” – Saban for injuries in return. He’s never been in a situation before where his team would hold back one scholarship.
  • “We loved Will Anderson in high school.” Saban has been on top of Anderson Jr’s list since he was a high school student.
  • Rather than having to overcome adversity, Saban would like Alabama not to put itself in a position where it has to overcome adversity. He prefers that they play well from the start (obviously).
  • “I think he was one of the most productive players in college football as a defensive player.” – Saban in Will Anderson Jr. He says Anderson did for his team this year like no other player ever.

Opening statement

“We showed a lot of grit, determination and resilience – whatever you want to call it – in the last game. I have to give our players a lot of credit for that. He showed a great competitive personality in being able to get back in the game. We had to overcome a lot of adversity, some of which we created. For ourselves, others we created.
