Volunteers wanted for Citizen Outreach Group

The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is looking for community-minded citizen volunteers to work on a citizen outreach group in El Paso County. Applications are submitted on December 8th.

The Citizen Outreach Group serves as a committee to review and assess progress on the county strategic plan, the county’s five-year financial roadmap, and public safety tax activity, in an effort to provide the BOCC and county administration with updates and recommendations.

The group is made up of 11 members: one from each of the county’s five mandate districts, and six public representatives. District and At-Large members serve for three years, with terms limited to two consecutive terms.

COG meetings are held several times a year at Centennial Hall in Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs Law Firm Announces Scholarships

Heuser & Heuser Law Firm is accepting applications for scholarships of up to $3,000.

First place is $3,000, followed by $2,000 and $1,000 for second and third, respectively. Applications are submitted on February 25th.

Applicants are required to write an essay of no less than 1,000 words in which they apply their intelligence and best critical thinking skills to this problem: “How would you change or improve the education system in our country so that it serves as a model for the rest of the world?”

Applicants must be in high school in the Southern Colorado area who are planning to enter college, trade school, or the military.
