The Nile – Michael J. Hodzik Jr., 81, died at 2:55 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2021, at his home in the care of a hospice for the elderly surrounded by his family.

Born May 4, 1940, in Youngstown, the son of the late Michael J. Petty L.

Mike graduated from Mineral Ridge High School in 1958. He then attended Ohio State University with a baseball scholarship and later Youngstown State University.

He married Mary C. Martin on May 13, 1961, and they enjoyed a marriage of 60 years together.

Mike worked for Allied Metals in Nile and retired from Starr Fab in Vienna as project estimator. Mike enjoyed his family first and foremost, coaching several Little League teams, managing high school basketball, and watching Ohio sports teams, but he especially enjoyed participating in the lives of his children and grandchildren.

His wife, Marie Mikhail, will be sorely missed; Three children, Michelle (Chris) Charnas of Howland Town, and Michael S. (Laurie) Hodzic of Niles, and Martin C. (Stephanie) Hodzic of Austin Town; brother, John Charles Hodzik of Mineral Ridge; seven grandchildren, Ashley (Rick) Hodzic, Nicholas (Victoria) Charnas, Haven Barichella, Aries (Courtney) Charnas, Michael Charnas, Gino Barichella, Samantha Hodzic; and five great-grandchildren, Joleen Hall, Cora Hall and Aria, Waylon and Hudson Charnas.

Besides his parents, Mike was preceded by death by three brothers, Robert, Donald and Alan Hodzik.

In accordance with Mike’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held for family members. There will be no public services.
