Lil Nas X Partners With Taco Bell Foundation to Launch Annual Live Más Scholarship • EBONY

Grammy Award-winning Lil Nas X and the Taco Bell Foundation recently announced the opening of the seventh annual application period for the Live Más Scholarship. According to a press release obtained by EBONY, the scholarship provides up to “$7 million in scholarships to aspiring students across the country, including more than $2 million specifically for Taco Bell team members hungry for the future.”

As Chief Impact Officer and former employee of Taco Bell, Lil Nas X helps the Taco Bell Foundation launch the Live Más scholarship app to provide opportunities for students from all walks of life to pursue their passion.

“Taco Bell has a really special place in my heart – ever since I worked there, I’ve always been amazed at how well they look out for their teammates and their fans,” said Lil Nas X. “I know there are a lot of young people like me taking unconventional paths to pursue their dreams, so I am very excited to play a role in making sure more of them know that Taco Bell has their backs when it comes to achieving those goals.”

The unconventional application process requires a two-minute video describing the applicant’s passion and vision to make a difference in the world and how education can help them achieve their goals.

The scholarship does not require students to submit application scores, essays, or test scores, and financial support will assist students in various educational paths such as community colleges and trade schools. Those awarded the scholarship will become part of a “community of passionate changemakers and will have access to real-world opportunities, professional connections, and a national mentorship network.”

Students between the ages of 16 and 26 are encouraged to apply and winners will be announced in Spring 2022. Prizes range from $5,000, $10,000, or $25,000 per student. In addition, the Taco Bell Foundation will award more than $2 million to members of the Taco Bell team who have worked at least 30 continuous days, reducing the requirement from 90 days to encourage scholarship applications among current employees and incentivize potential job candidates.
