FOR NOW WE WILL SEND IT BACK TO YOU IN THE STUDIO. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT REPORT ON EVERYTHING THAT IS GOING ON ON THE NORTH SHORE. WE ALSO WANT TO BRING IN RALPH IANNOTTI. HE WAS ON THE HOMESTEAD GRAYS BRIDGE WHERE THERE WAS A PROTEST GOING ON THERE TONIGHT. THAT IS THE BRIDGE THAT IS OVER THE WATERFRONT AND WHAT CAN YOU TELL US FROM YOUR LOCATION? Reporter: QUITE A CONTRAST HERE IN HOMESTEAD TO WHAT WE JUST SAW AND HEARD ON THE CITY’S NORTH SIDE WITH DAVID HIGHFILL. IT’S QUIET HERE RIGHT NOW. THE TRAFFIC IS MOVING SMOOTHLY ON THE HOMESTEAD GRAYS BRIDGE. THIS ALL BEGAN THIS EVENING AROUND 6:00 WITH A NUMBER OF DEMONSTRATORS GATHERING. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION AGAINST GUN VIOLENCE. THAT’S HOW IT STARTED IT LATER ON DURING THE COURSE OF THE EVENING THINGS BEGAN TO DETERIORATE. I HAVE BEEN HERE ALL EVENING AND IT WAS PRETTY CLEAR THAT THE POLICE WERE NOT GOING TO HAVE A REPEAT OF WHAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT ON THE PARKWAY EAST WHEN THE INTERSTATE WAS CLOSED DOWN FOR SEVERAL HOURS. HERE TONIGHT THEY LET PROTESTERS HAVE THEIR WAY, CHANTING AND HOLDING THEIR SIGNS UP, AND AROUND 930 TONIGHT — 9:30 TONIGHT, THEY CLOSE THE BRIDGE DOWN BECAUSE THINGS WERE GETTING OUT OF HAND. HE DECIDED TO CLOSE THE BRIDGE DOWN. AND THEN IT 10:00 IT WAS ANNOUNCED THAT IT WAS IN UNLAWFUL ASSEMBLY AND THEY WERE GOING TO CLEAR THE BRIDGE PEOPLE ON THE BRIDGE IF THEY DIDN’T MOVE WOULD BE ARRESTED. AT 10:00 THE POLICE BEGAN CLEARING THE BRIDGE. MANY OF THE PROTESTERS LEFT. THEY HAD TO CLEAR SOME OF THIS AREA BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE A NUMBER OF THE PROTESTERS ENDED UP TONIGHT. WE KNOW OF AT LEAST FOUR ARRESTS. ONE INDIVIDUAL ARRESTED WAS TAUNTING THE POLICE WITH QUESTIONS AND JUST YELLING AT THEM EARLIER. — EARLIER ON THE BRIDGE. BUT JUST A SHORT TIME AGO WE GOT AN UPDATE ON THE SITUATION FROM THE ALLEGHENY COUNTY POLICE SUPERINTENDENT. WE CLEARED THE BRIDGE BUT SOME OF THE GROUPS CAME DOWN EIGHTH AVENUE AND WERE STILL DISORDERLY. SO WE ATTEMPTED TO CLEAR THE STREET AT THAT TIME. WE MADE APPROXIMATELY FOUR ARRESTS. Reporter: SO ONCE AGAIN, THINGS ARE QUIET HERE AT HOMESTEAD. THE BRIDGE IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS. TRAFFIC IS MOVING IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. THE BRIDGE, IT WAS CLEAR BY POLICE AFTER 10:00, AND THEY GAVE THE ORDER THAT IT WAS IN UNLAWFUL ASSEMBLY AFTER ALLOWING THE PROTESTERS A LOT — ABOUT THREE HOURS TO GET THEIR MESSAGE OUT.
